Personal and professional development is essential process of developing own personality according to determined goals and objectives. An individual can develop the professional learning by undertaking various processes according to their needs as well knowledge that could be beneficial for future based objectives. By learning and gaining the knowledge individual can develop the new opportunities for future growth and obtaining the higher position at desired workplace. Personal development refers to crafting improvement in the interpersonal skills and behavior that helps to build relations and achieve the goals and objectives more convincing manners. The report will provide the comparison of personal values and principles in health and social care working as well give the brief of own experience of working at Hilton hotel as a head housekeeper. Moreover, report will explain the outcome of changes in values and process of conflicts and develop the personal and professional development plan accordingly. Furthermore, report will evaluate the own progress against the development plan and explain the nature of the development of relation in health and social care context. At the end, report will evaluate the effectiveness of personal contribution while working with other health and social care like NHS as well as analyze the own contribution in minimizing the barriers to team work in health and social care.
1.1 Comparison of personal values and principles with health and social care principles
Personal value and principles plays critical role in the planning and implementation of activities and practices that proposed by organization or undertaken by individual to meet the professional objectives according to their needs. I have worked in hotel Hilton as head housekeeper and had the experiences of meeting the need of management and visitors by following the working principles as well using the work based process of managing the operations and functions. Through my experience, I have developed good communication skill which would help me in health and safety as it is important to communicate well with people having care needs. Personally I am very patient and never give up. To work in health and social care sector it is important that an individual is patient as he needs to work patiently and understand the needs of the people. According to my personal ethics and principles, it is important to maintain the dignity, respect and privacy of customers and management which helps to gain the trust of the customers. This approach is very helpful in health and social care as it is important to gain the confidence of people with social care needs so that they can talk about freely (Hopkinson, 2014).
I am also a good observer and a fast learner. When I joined Hilton hotel I did not had much idea of managing team. However I have learned the techniques to manage people by looking at my peers and learnt through online sources. My learning skills would help me in learning the necessary skills for performing my role in the social care organization.
1.2 Own experience of working at health care
I have started working with Hilton hotel as head housekeeper and now working for health and social care is different as I have good experience of working with hospitality organization. By working at hospitality organization I have gained the knowledge about planning, anticipating and processing the resources according to needs of the customers which has helped me to maintain the effectiveness of services. In health and social care organization, my role is to manage the teams and resources so that the care needs of the persons can be identified and the action plan could be planned. My past experience would keep me in good shape in this context.
From my experience at previous workplace I have learnt that it is important to be professional and should follow the work ethics and not to break the trust of the customers and organization. This kind of approach and working habits have helped me to maintain the own effectiveness and meet the services standard of health and social organization.
My experience of team working and planning of the resources will be very useful in health and social care organization (Kop and Fournier, 2011). Also my past experience of working with diverse cultural people will have significant impact on my working styles. My efforts are always directed to meet the customer expectation and I strive hard to make the customers happy from my service.
1.3 Changes of values and process to overcome the conflicts
By working in the social and health care organization, I have understood that it is important a care worker needs to be patient with the individuals. The care worker should maintain the ethical and legal approach while delivering services to care workers. It is essential for staff members to follow and maintain the positive working environment which is important at health and social care organization to treat the patients more professional manners. One of the biggest changes in my value is that it is important to listen to the problem of the care needs. Without listening, it can be said that the needs to care workers cannot be identified.
I am also following the values and legislation of the social care organization to meet the objectives as well as planning of the services for patients but lack of communication and diversity in culture are affecting the team working at workplace which might affecting the coordination and creating the situations of disputes (McLoughlin and Lee, 2010).
In addition to this, to maintain the effectiveness and process for offering the knowledge to staff members about the changes and improvement of standard organization is offering the training and essential guideline which is making the tasks easier (Nicholls, 2014). Many time at work place, I have also faced tough conditions as the values and process get changes which affect the working culture and professional practices for some times.
2.1 Current skills, ability and learning styles
I am working at health and social care organization in current scenario and had the experience of working at Hilton hotel as head housekeeper. By using the SWOT analysis tool I have analyze and identified my own skills, abilities and style of learning which is as follows:

The above mentioned analysis of own effectiveness has provided the information about the own skills and ability that will help to understand the approach of individual to complete the tasks. Apart from that, I am using the visual and auditory learning styles for gaining the knowledge and implement the changes in the existing process to meet the personal and professional objectives. According to these learning styles, I am learning by watching videos and listening to the direction and guideline of managers at health and social care workplace. In addition to this, these learning styles are also helping to craft improvement in the own knowledge and understanding of approaches and activities for maintaining the growth in both personal and professional manners (Stenfors.et.al. 2010). In spite of that, visual learning styles is also helping to meet the objectives more professional manners as well gain the understanding of new process of working at health and social care.
2.2 Holistic development plan for short, medium and long term goals
For managing the knowledge and craft improvement in the existing skills and abilities it is essential for me to undertake a plan that will help to overcome the weakness and polish the qualities to get the desired position within organization. For development and growth I will use the following plan:

By undertaking the plan for personal and professional develop to perform the tasks according to needs and expectation of organization and customer, this plan will support me to get adjust with the conditions by having the qualities of team working, time management, communication and utilization of resources as per the requirements. This kind of approach and planning will help me to maintain the learning and effectiveness in own development according to future requirements.
2.3 Monitor your own progress against the plan according to requirements and care practices
According to my personal ethics and principles, it is important to maintain the dignity, respect and privacy of customers and management which helps to gain the trust and sustain the position within organization. In order to maintain the balance between personal and professional activities and values I am following the instruction of top management and offering the services to patients. For crafting improvement in the personal and professional activities and practices as per the requirements of NHS health and social care organization I have undertaken the development plan which would help me to maintain the effectiveness (Zepeda, 011). By following the plan I have crafted improvement in communication, planning, time management and utilization of resources which is more important for this industry. In spite of that, according to self assessment I have came to know that I am still lacking in the team working and professional understanding of tasks and operations that influencing my performance against the benchmarking standard. By working at health and social care organization I have gained the knowledge about team working and planning of the resources to meet the organization focusing on the own skills and responsibilities. Moreover, these principles are helping me to keep the relations stronger and positive manners. The organization has also provided training and guideline for using and following the principles for maintaining the positive and ethical approach for meeting the satisfaction level of patients.
2.4 Effectiveness of development plan
The proposed plan for personal and professional has helped me to overcome my weakness in understanding the work and meeting the objectives for organizational standard as I was having experience of head housekeeper which is different from the health and social care working culture. by undertaking the plan for personal and professional development I have crafted improvement in the set of skills like planning utilization of resources, time management and process of working of nursing and offering the emotional and medical support to the patients. According to these activities of planning and developing the skills, I am learning by watching videos and listening to the direction and guideline of managers at health and social care workplace.
In addition to this, these learning practices are also helping to craft improvement in the own knowledge and understanding of approaches and activities for maintaining the growth in both personal and professional manners. In spite of that, visual learning styles is also helping to meet the objectives more professional manners as well gain the understanding of new process of working at health and social care (Bradbury.et.al. 2012). However I have gained the knowledge and abilities to work with the people but still this plan is lacking in developing my skills of time management as well as use of resources that have significant contribution in the health and social care working. in order to craft improvement in the set of skills in which I am lacking will update the plan and involve other activities that will help to maintain the effectiveness more convincing manners.
3.1 Nature of different professional relationship considering own working
I have work experience of housekeeping and caring of my child who has special needs that is helpful in understanding of work process and managing the activities according to organizational requirements. As the care professional I have to deal with the different background people who have different requirements and needs. These will be major elements which needs to be maintain for marinating the place and growth at work place. In addition to this, at workplace I need to be professional as work ethics not allowed to break the trust of organization by not following the structure and culture of organization. The relationship between me and other senior staff member will help me to maintain the effectiveness in working and delivering the services according to standard which is essential. The support of peers and other staff is useful to understand the process and needs of the situations. This kind of approach and working habits have helped me to maintain the own effectiveness and meet the services standard of health and social are organization like NHS. By working at health and social care organization I have gained the knowledge about team working and planning of the resources to meet the organization focusing on the own skills and responsibilities (McNiff, 2010). By considering these facts I can say that my experience of working with divers cultural people I have gained professional knowledge that has significant impact on my working styles and encouraging.
3.2 Own effectiveness in promoting and supporting the rights of individual
At health and social care organization, management has proposed working principles and process of managing the services to meet the objectives of health and social care work. I work with the professional standard that helps to maintain the legal and ethical process for managing the relation and loyalty with the management and other team members. For promoting the rights of individual I am taking the active participation in the meetings and feedback process of organization that helping to gain the knowledge and follow up of process to meet the standard and legal process. For protecting the rights of individual and own I am providing the support to the people to raise voice against any discrimination and unethical process. However I have good knowledge of working according to organizational principle and objectives but the value and principle of health and social care organization are hard and have diversity as they are for all type of people who belong to different backgrounds (Scott.et.al. 2010). According to my personal ethics and principles, it is important to maintain the dignity, respect and privacy of customers and management which helps to gain the trust and sustain the position within organization.
3.3 Ways to resolve the issues
For resolving the issues, regular meetings are conducted by the HR Manager where the issues creating conflicts are reviewed and an action plan is devised. Clear and defined objectives also help to do the tasks properly and help in keeping healthy relationship between team members. Moreover organization can use the feedback collection process that will help to identify and overcome the issues that affecting the process of health and social care working. Feedback collection will give the idea about the issues that affecting the process of organizational working and help to develop the plan to resolve the issues as soon as possible (Wenger, 2011). Consideration of staff member input will support the top management to provide the proper guideline and direction to meet the organizational objectives as well plan the activities according to capabilities of individual which also be very useful to develop the positive working business environment. Behavioral training is provided to the staff members. The training is helpful and allows the individual to keep their calm and listen to the customer requirement properly.
4.1 Effectiveness of personal contributions when working with others in health and social care practice
Health and social care help me to give effective treatment to my child who needs the special treatment. I have gained knowledge about the different practices and code of conducts that help me give effective treatment to m child and also help me to manage the health care practices. By working at NHS I have learned various things that help me to identify the problems of the patients at the time of diseases. I have learned that communication is the best way to keep the patients happy and easy to recover from the diseases. My son is the special kid who needs special attention from my side in hospital I have learnt that how to talk with the special child. NHS taught me lot of things that how to perform in the group and meaning of cooperation (Graves, 2013). This all kind of things in the organization makes the person skilled and employees can give their best to achieve the personal and organizational goals. NHS gives me training to treat the patient in best and effective way which they are able to give their best for the management goals.
Health and social care practices help me to treat my son in better way and now he get the attention from my side. In organization I always try to meet the objectives of working as well as meet the benchmark standards. My personal experience with the NHS is very good I have learned about the different culture and different perception of employees towards the organization. NHS helps me to improve my communication flow and enhance my work efficiency and raise my personal behavior towards the work. My personal opinion towards NHS is that I have learned various things related to the patient treatment and group behavior.
4.2 The limits of own work role impacts on work with others
Failure in the team work is the biggest threat in the organization it affects the whole work in the organization and low down the overall efficiency of the organization. As per my experience I have noticed that employees which are working in the team are facing the problem of lack of communication and coordination in team. Poor communication among the team members always affects the coordination of the employees. In NHS I have identified that employees are facing the problems due to lack of communication among the team leaders and team mates. Following are the problems that are faced by the employees:
- Failure to understand the roles of other Team Members:In all the teams all the employees are not able to identify their roles and not performing the specific task (Desimone, 2011). This kind of problems affects the behaviour of the employee and they are not able to understand the problems. NHS has different teams for the different task that reflects the coordination among the team mates. But leaders in the team are not able to communicate the team mates and make them aware about the duties this may affect the work.
- Poor Communication:One of the major factors that affect the efficiency of the employees is poor communication among the employees and leaders. The leaders in the team are not able to ask the problem to the team leaders and due to work load leaders are not able to communicate with the team mates. This variation among the leaders and team mates may affect the working of the employees. As per my experience I have identified that poor communication skills may affect the overall progress of the work.
4.3 Role in minimising barriers to effective teamwork in health and social care practice
For improvement in the team and to decrease the barriers in the effective team work I have the taken the self initiative to perform the specified work in the NHS. For self improvement I will the take the participation in the meetings, group discussion and communicate with the employees. This all techniques help to coordinate with the employees and improve the work place culture. The communication skill may help me to identify the problem of my colleagues and I also share my views with the other employees. For improvement in the care activities, NHS has to develop the training session and hire the experts in the organization for the development of the skills of the employees. It is the duty of the leaders in the team to identify the problems of the employees and provide them the facility to perform well at the work place. The review technique must be implemented in the organization and collect the review of the employees about their satisfaction level etc. If manager found any negative feedback about the services than take the proper action about the problem (Bunderson and Boumgarden, 2010). The mentors in the team must discuss the strategy with the employees and collect their feedback about the strategy before implementing it at the work place. As per my personal experience at the NHS I have identified that employees are not able to understand their work place duties they are performing as per desire for instance a person who is medicine expert is handling the cash counter this is the biggest drawback for the organization. In order to improve this kind of problem management must conduct the training session for the team leaders and make them aware about their roles and duties. This kind of approach is beneficial for me and team mates to analyze the own efficiency and help me to self develop plan to perform as per the set benchmark in the organization.
4.4 Improve personal contributions to the collective effectiveness of a team
For the better performance in the team I will attend the training session that are organized by the leaders in the team. This kind of session may help me to identify my own mistakes and also make me aware that how improve this kind of mistakes. The training sessions may improve the overall performance of the team and help them to identify their duties in the organization. The employees in NHS are facing the problem of communication with the leaders and employees the training session may help them to identify the way to communicate with the leaders. Work allocation may help the leaders to distribute the work among the team mates and remove the communication barriers from the work place (McNiff, 2010). By using the communication system like e-mail, mobile phones etc may help the management to get in touch with the employees and get the regular update about the performance of the different teams.
I have obeyed the rules and regulations that are designed by the management for the employees in NHS. For personal improvement I worked as per the set benchmark of the services in the NHS and always try to complete the task in the given time. I also try to learn the new skills from the doctors that help me to treat my child at home. For my improvement I always attend the classes that are held at the work place which helps me to develop my personal and professional skills.
From the above study it can be considered that personal and professional development is playing critical role for individual and organization to meet the objectives as well maintain the growth. report has discussed about the principles and values that have significant impact on the effectiveness of individual as well explained the own contribution towards the organization. Moreover report has developed the plan for personal and professional development to meet the objectives of health and social care objectives.
