Categories of Information System

An Information system is the formal, process, store, and social technology of the distributed information system. Hardware is important for the visible aspect of the information system. The categories of the Information system are as follows: -

  • Data Processing System: - This is a large database for the information system. The purpose of using this system is to help in providing easy access and to fetch the data quickly along with very fast data processing. It occurs when collected data gets enable for translation with usable information. It is the process that is used in processing the raw material to get meaningful information. It is also used in the manipulation of data on a system. It is the process that is used for inserting the raw data and process the chunk of data and get information from different sources on a computer. It includes the text file, Excel file, audio, video clips, GPRS data, including unstructured data. It is important to increase the space of storage for adding along with managing and also modifies the data (Situmorang 2019).

  • Real-Time System: - It refers to any type of processing of the information system with the hardware along with software components. It uses the real-time application framework that needs to respond to events within given specific time constraints. It is required for running multiple tasks simultaneously. It helps in creating the optimized solution for a specific requirement for a project. It is the level of responsiveness of the computer that uses the senses sufficiently immediately. It is an operating system that works based on completing the task in the given time. It aims to respond to the data no matter what type of data is entered. The response is given in a few milliseconds in this system.

  • Decision Support System: - It is a computerized program that is used to carry the judgment along with determinations and courses of action in any organization. The DSS shifts and analyses the huge data chunk. It also provides comprehensive information to solve the problems and it also helps in decision making. It consists of three main components that are Database, User interface, and software system (Avdiner et al. 2019). It also consists of collection of data from various sources that includes generating the data from different sources, the internal data from the business along with the external data which is being taken from the internet.

  • Knowledge Base System: - It is a part of Artificial Intelligence that helps in capturing the knowledge of the experts with support decision-making. It is a program that is used in capturing and using knowledge from a variety of sources. The KBS assists with a solution of the problem of dealing with complex issues. The system that is used in the organization provides support to the decision for human learning and other activities. It leads to creating, dissemination and support of knowledge. It always focuses on the verities of knowledge from multiple sources. A KBS assists in solving problem that is particularly based on complex issues with the help of AI.

Types of Information System

There are various types of information systems. some of them are as follows:

  • Transaction Processing System: - The transaction uses all the purchases and sales of products along with providing services. It is required to operate the company in a daily business transaction. It is a type of system that is used to collect information. With the collection of information, it stores the data in the database. While storing the data if any modification needs to be done by using AI the changes are done to get the information. Retrieval of data in order to get the correct information for the data transaction needs to be accurate from data of the enterprise. TPS attempts to get a predictable responses time. It is the technology that helps in recording the daily transactions that are necessary for running the organization.

  • Management Information System: - The MIS is a computer system that consists of software and hardware that helps in providing the backbone support to the organization. The MIS fetches the data from different online sources. A collection of data from online sources helps in analysing the correct information and reports data to the management for making the correct decision (Albarghouthi et al. 2020).

ERP System

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is software that helps in organizing the data that uses for managing the business. The various activities used to manage the accounting, project include risk management, procurement, and operation of the supply chain. It defines the ability to deliver an integrated application of the management. It is a tool that is used in sharing and process of the data models. It also covers the broad and deep operations of the end-to-end encryption process. It automates process of business that is used in providing insights and controls the internal databases. It is used to collect the inputs from accounting, supply chain, marketing along with human resources (Mahar et al. 2020).

The application used by the individuals can use the software for providing the services. It helps in to get effective communication of data flow. The ERP allows the system for getting better performance along with managing the project. It helps in planning the budget and to predict the accuracy of the report of an individual. This software is launched in the year 1990s by Gartner Group. It is the manufacturing industry for the last 100s years (Mahar et al. 2020).

The main purpose of building the ERP system managing the work faster and helps in improving the necessary resources without sacrificing the quality performance to increase business growth along with profitability. It is the system that typically covers all the aspects given below:

  • Integrating system

  • Operation of Real-Time activities

  • Applications that are used in User Interface

  • SaaS Development

It can collect and compare metrics across the department that provide many different reports. The reports are based on the preferences and roles. While using ERP there is no need to prepare various databases. Using this application helps to collect different data in a single place.

Benefits

There are various benefits of ERP software. Some of them are as follows:

  • Increase Business Reporting: It is helpful in the collection of data being used to enhance the ERP system by initiating the opportunity for users. It mainly focuses on the quality of the information companies provide the investors that helps in making a better decision. It also includes compiling and reviewing the information with a specific functional area that includes finance, sales, and inventory control for an area of the business where performance is measured and monitored.

  • Better Customer Services: - It is designed to improve customer experience. It always helps to plan automation that helps the customer in getting the quality product at a very low price.

  • Improved Inventory Costs: - It has a limit that carries the product and how much is being needed. This software helps in streamline the inventory including cost. It helps to provide a clear view of the list and data. It also tells the connection of different business functions.

  • Boosted Cash Flow: - It always offers discounts for early payments. It includes not buying the leasing; inventory needs to be efficient. The cash flow can also be increased by conducting a credit checklist of the customer and by earning interest on the savings account.

Possible Challenges to Deploy for using the ERP Solution

The Challenges that are being used in deploy using the ERP as a solution are as follows:

  1. Project Management: - It tries to implement various phases like design and development, testing, migration of data, Planning along with discovery. Some of the phases are critical tasks to execute, they need to be tracked with all elements, which are required for meticulous management of the project (Supriyono and Sutiah 2020). The people strongly include setting an expectation of realistic backgrounds. The conflict can be the two-way communication in which one actor needs to communicate but second person is busy with other work.

  2. Data Integration: - It is the key advantage that provides an accurate source of information for the organization. The ERP implementation leads to data integration. It is very tough for syncing the data in different databases to be integrated into a single ERP software. While transferring the data it might possible that data will be redundant or duplicity of data is formed. So, it might face when the website with the same data goes live then it is very difficult to get the data. In data duplicity of the data is there.

  3. Continuous Improvement: - It is not anyone's effort to make the system live. The solution must support new technology but ERP software is not improving which leads to various types of errors. It does not support cloud computing which leads to a new technology and hierarchy for using the data from anywhere. But while using ERP software it is mandatory to add a new feature as an update (Iyer 2019).
