Introduction

This is a reflective essay that will discuss several aspects of human rights. The study will discuss the importance of human rights and how it affects the individual. Human rights have significant importance in an individual’s life as it associated with every human being. Every person has the right to life, right to freedom, right to equality, right to work, right to education and so on. These are considered as basic fundamental rights of humans. Human rights give the freedom to every human being to propose their opinion, right to education and equal treatment. Human rights are against discrimination. The government of every country has given specific human rights to their people so that they can live their life to the fullest. Providing human rights does not mean that they can do anything and violate the rules and regulations. One should use their human rights wisely and sensibly. People should not discriminate against each other based on caste, religion, age, colour, location and economic status. Human rights are protected by the laws and are applicable to every human being at any time and situation. In this study, I will discuss key concepts and theories such as Gibb’s reflective cycle to elaborate the human rights.

Main Body

During the module learning, I have learned about human rights and their importance. Before this module learning, I was not aware of human rights. From the module, I was able to gain knowledge of human rights and their different aspects. While learning about human rights, I come to know that the ‘right to education is one of the prominent and important human rights of our life. Also, the right to life is another vital human right that is closely associated with professional life. Every person has the right to live a life on their own conditions. While working professionally, I can live my life on my own conditions. But I should make ensure that there should not be a violation of rules and regulations set by the company. Violating the organizational policies while following human rights may hamper my professional life. Human rights have significant importance in professional life as every human being has the freedom of expression and freedom from slavery and forced labour (Berro Pizzarossa, 2018). With these human rights, I can express my thoughts, my opinions, my views on a particular point. Freedom of expression gives me the right to propose my point of view in front of people. During the professional meetings in an organization, I have the right to participate in the general meetings and suggest my views on a particular issue or challenge. Treating everyone equally in an organization is important as it comes under human rights (Kolstad, 2022). The right to equality is one of the major human rights that every person or organization need to follow. But sometimes people do not follow human rights and gets punished by the higher authority of the country. Every country follows human rights and violations of the same may result in punishment. While learning human rights I was feeling fascinated as I was learning for the first time. Whenever I learn new topics, I feel amazed and human rights were one of the topics that have helped me in gaining new knowledge. The module learning on human rights has given me enough knowledge about several aspects of human rights. The feelings of the people were mixed during the module learning that’s what I observed. Few of the people were showing interest in the human rights topic. Including me, they were interested in learning the different human rights and their importance on professional life. The different examples of human rights and their advantages have been taught in the class that has fascinated the students. People were interested in knowing more detailed knowledge about human rights and their significance in our life. People who were interested in the topic was more curious and was asking questions related to human rights. The teacher was also interested in giving the answers on the topic. The teacher’s command over the topic was interesting and that was influencing the students. Thus, most of the students has shown interest in human rights learning.

Earlier I have come across similar kinds of experiences where the module was different but few students were interested in the topic. The teaching methods were quite interesting for a few of the students and because of this some of the students have shown interest in the topic. The topic was related to empowerment which was interesting for most of the students and thus they were paying attention to the topic. Students were interested to know more about empowerment and how it's related to personal and professional life. This situation is way similar to that of the current module which is related to human rights. The condition during both situations was almost similar. People who were interested in the topic was showing interest and was asking questions related to the topic whereas students who were not curious was interested in just listening. I have evaluated both the situation and comes to know that people who were learning human rights was more interested in that topic. Most of the people were curious about human rights rather than the empowerment topic which was taught one month before the human rights. My personal interest was also in the human rights topic as it was more fascinating to me. I had given more attention to the human rights topic rather than the empowerment topic. I feel more connected to the human rights topic as it was closely associated with the human being. Most of the students have felt more connected to the human rights topic. Right to education and the right to express are the two major human rights that have influenced the pupil that’s what I observe. During the empowerment learning module students have shown less interest as compared to human rights topics. The way of teaching and explanation of the topic was a little unclear to me as well as my friends and therefore we didn’t show that much interest. The connection between that topic was both topics were knowledgeable and related to the individual person. Empowerment is now a necessity; every youth of the nation should be empowered and self-sufficient to survive in the world (Jansen-van Vuuren et al., 2021). This learning topic was well connected to the student as every learner must think about empowerment and independent existence but in reality, students failed to connect the topic and have shown less interest in the topic. As a learner, I have experienced that the way of teaching and storyline has helped me to attach with the human rights topic. In order to enjoy the topic, one should understand the importance of the topic and how it implements in real life. Teachers must interestingly teach the topic so that everyone will enjoy the module learning. While teaching, the learner must have a thorough knowledge of the subject that will help them to teach the topic most interestingly. The interesting way of teaching and interaction with the teacher made the learning fun and enjoyable. With this fun learning study, I have learned several aspects of human rights. I have learned that human rights are extremely important in an individual's life since they are linked to every human being. Every person has the right to life, liberty, equality, employment, and education, among other things. These are regarded to be basic human fundamental rights. Every human being has the right to express their viewpoint, as well as the right to an education and equal treatment under the law. Discrimination seems to be against human rights. Every nation's government has been providing its residents with particular human rights so that they can live their lives to the utmost (Spahn, 2018). Providing human rights does not imply that they are free to do anything they want and break the norms. Human rights should be used properly and rationally. People should not hate one another because of their caste, religion, age, colour, geography, or financial position. Human rights are protected by law and apply to all people at all times and in all situations (Castro-Peraza et al., 2019). The overall learning experience in both situations was quite good and interesting.

Analyzing and discussing the experience is essential in order to understand the importance of the topic. For that, I need to analyze the learning experience and need to highlight the significant factors of the learning experience. Those factors have substantial importance for a new understanding. From the experience, it can be said that the learning has been done in a professional and disciplined manner as the topic was related to human rights which are the significant aspects of the human being. Professional development is one of the important factors that need to be fulfilled while learning in the university and human rights is just a topic that has the potential to help in professional development. Several human rights are closely associated with professional people as well as students. The right to education is one of the human rights which is directly connected to the students. Physiological factors influence the learning of the students (Franzen et al., 2021). Such factors are known as sense perception factors. Physical health of the students, fatigue time and day of learning, food and drink and atmospheric conditions has a great influence on the learning of the students. The bad physical health or student facing the illness hampers the learning. While learning the module, I have analyzed that few of the students were feeling bad due to health issues and because of that, they were not able to concentrate on the learning module. Students with sound physical health were able to focus on the study. The students who were having a greater perception power was able to grasp the knowledge easily however students with weaker perception failed to concentrate on the learning though they find the human rights topic interesting. I have been also analyzed a few of the students who were having muscular or sensory fatigue and because of this, they were feeling mental boredom. As per my view several factors such as home environment, school environment influences the thinking of the people and that leads to fatigue and it might be physical or mental. Thus, it becomes essential for the teacher to understand the critical situation of the students and why they are not able to concentrate on the learning. During the empowerment topic what I observe is, students were mentally tired and was not showing interest in the topic. Apart from tiredness, the other factor such as teaching method and presenting style had affected the learning ability of the students. Time of learning is another factor that has the potential to influence the learning of the students (Amenduni and Ligorio, 2022). Teaching the learning module in the morning time helps the students to concentrate more on the teaching whereas teaching in the afternoon after lunch affects the learning ability of the pupil. It was the morning time period of the human rights topic and that was one of the reasons behind the concentration of the students towards the topic. It has been observed that students pay more attention during the morning period lectures as they feel fresh. During the afternoon time, I was feeling hungry so I was not able to focus on learning. Along with me, my other friends were not able to concentrate on the topic. But the presentation style of the topic, teaching method, and way of explanation have created curiosity in me. Atmospheric conditions have a great influence on the learning of the students (Gou et al., 2018). Over-crowded schools, low ventilation and physical discomfort affect the learning ability of the students.

The overall learning experience was good. The human rights module has helped me gain knowledge of the fundamentals of human rights. Throughout the module learning, I have observed the teaching methods, the flow of the storyline and the way of teaching of the teacher. Before learning the human rights lecture, I was not aware of the fundamental knowledge of human rights. I have also asked my friends whether they were having knowledge of human rights or not; at that time most of the students have denied that they were not aware of human rights. Very few friends of mine were aware of the topic. The human rights knowledge will be useful for me throughout my life. While working for a company it becomes essential to have knowledge of human rights. I studied various aspects of human rights as a result of this enjoyable learning research. Personal freedoms are highly vital in an individual's actions since they are tied to each and every human being, I've discovered. Every person, among other things, has the right to life, liberty, equality, employment, and education. These would be considered to be essential human rights. Every person has the freedom to express himself, as well as the right to an education and equal legal treatment (Ruiz Vieytez, 2021). Discrimination appears to be a violation of one's human rights (Al-Daraweesh, 2020). Every government has provided its citizens with certain human rights in order to enjoy their lives to the fullest. Because the concept of human rights is so strongly linked to the human being, I feel better attached to that though. The majority of pupils have developed a stronger connection to the theme of human rights. I believe the right to education and the freedom to express is indeed the two most important human rights which have an impact on students. In comparison to the human rights issue, pupils showed less attention throughout the empowerment learning session. Because the method of teaching and explaining the issue was a bit confused to me and my classmates, we didn't appear to be interested. The relationship between the two issues was that those were well-informed and relevant to the individuals. The human rights knowledge would be useful for my future practice. To become a lawyer, I must have knowledge of human rights and how one is used during necessity. In order to remember those human rights, I need to have a strong action plan which would be helpful in recalling all those human rights. Making the table of human rights and sticking it up on the wall would help me in remembering human rights every day. For this, I will refer to the module learning and I will try to finish it up within two weeks. The critical thinking ability skill will play a major role in understanding human rights. Thus, I will learn this skill and will finish it up within three weeks. Problem solving skill is an important skill that needs to develop for a better understanding of the module. In order to develop this skill, I will try to solve real-world problems which will help me in understanding the module in a better way. I will develop this skill within two months.

Conclusion

In human rights module learning, I have learned several aspects of human learning. I feel connected to the topic as it was associated with the individual. I have shared my experience through Gibb’s reflective cycle where I have used the different elements of Gibb’s reflective cycle. I have described the situation in this essay along with my feelings during the module learning. The situation has been analyzed and evaluated in this study. The conclusion and action plan have been covered in the essay.
