Section D

The main goal of this session was to assist me in identifying, prioritising, and developing critical abilities necessary for professional advancement (Niatiet al., 2021). Completing worksheets, exercises, tests, and self-assessment questionnaires were all part of the skills identification process. These exercises helped me assess my current abilities and the difficulties I encounter while using them in various situations, which will help me in my future professional endeavours. I discovered and improved the following essential abilities during this module, including hair cutting, by taking part in practical activities and tests that helped me hone my hair-cutting methods. I was able to practise sophisticated techniques and get feedback by attending workshops, which pointed out areas where I could develop and improve (McGinness et al., 2020). Another talent is hair colouring, which I became proficient in this subject by studying about the chemistry underlying colour mixing and trying out various approaches. By using these techniques in exercises, I was able to become proficient and confident in my ability to offer these services to clients.

One of the module's primary goals was to provide effective customer service (Adamet al., 2021). I discovered how crucial it is to communicate clearly, empathetically, and actively when working with customers. I put these abilities into practice and discovered how to manage different client circumstances by participating in role-playing sessions.Effective time management was essential for finishing the assignments in this module. I became more adept at setting priorities, allocating resources effectively, and meeting deadlines thanks to organised activities. This will help me manage several things in practical job situations. Another talent is teamwork, which I demonstrated by taking part in multiple cooperative activities with classmates where we had to strive towards shared objectives. These exercises improved my capacity to collaborate with people in a work environment and illustrated the value of establishing professional relationships (Zachary and Fain,2022).Another crucial ability I acquired was creativity, which helped me come up with original solutions to problems in client relations or hairdressing techniques. I was able to experiment with new methods through creativity exercises, which stimulated creative ideas that I may use in my work.

Attention to Detail demonstrates how I concentrated on honing my attention to detail throughout practical work by meticulously applying colouring and hair cutting procedures. Regular feedback and self-assessment forms helped me appreciate the value of accuracy by reinforcing this skill. Effective communication in both written and spoken formats was emphasised in the module (Ekwuno, 2022). Participating in class debates and presentations improved my capacity to boldly and clearly express my thoughts. I learnt to approach difficulties with a proactive perspective by developing my problem-solving skills. This program helped me hone my problem-solving and decision-making skills by presenting me with real-life circumstances that required me to come up with suitable answers. Working with various peers and adjusting to new salon settings during role-playing exercises demonstrated adaptability and emphasised the value of flexibility in changing circumstances (Xu et al., 2023). In a field as dynamic and ever-evolving as hairdressing, this ability is essential for success.

Self-Evaluation and Reflection

My largest difficulty, according to the self-evaluation forms in this subject, was adjusting to new salon settings and methods. I did, however, become more accustomed to these circumstances by practicing more and getting advice. The questionnaires also asking about dealing with co-workers, and I am finding that focussing on team objectives and remaining professional helping me dealing with challenging interpersonal situations.
