Introduction

Overview

The report revolves around British Airways industry, which is one of the giants of the airline industry in the United Kingdom. British Airways operates their service around 371 destinations in the entire world and it is the biggest number for any airline company. British Airways is operating its business cheap-cost model (Jackson and Tozer, 2020. pp.15-19).

Intro of the core function

Finance is used in the business for maintaining regular expenses and balancing future and current growth.

Marketing is used for promoting the brand and enhancing sales and advertisement.

Operation is used for maintaining service quality, maintenance and business strategies (Dawid, 2024).

Human Resources is used for managing the corporate cycle and a positive environment in the organisation.



Core business function

Definition and Role of Functions

According to Wood and Sangster, finance is an essential component, which is used for utilizing the funds for acquiring relevant resources for better use in the airline.

Function:

Finance is used for managing the growth and expenses of the company, forecasting the future aspect of the business growth cycle (Albers et al., 2020.p.101878).

According to Philip Kotler, Marketing is the component, which is used for promoting brands and increasing sales for the organisational benefit.

Function:

Marketing is used for developing multiple techniques for increasing sales growth. It is used to maintain the quality of multiple services and use loyalty programs to attract customers.

According to Worthington and Britton, Operation is the component, which is used for measuring the quality component of the growth in the diverse parameters (Thendu et al., 2020. pp.48-69.

Function:

Operation is used for providing relevant tools and protocols for improvising the current skills of the staff members (Miller, 2018).

According to Boxall and Purcell, Human resources is used the find skills and active candidates for a particular job role in the organisation (Boxall and Purcell, 2022.

Function:

HR has to balance the corporate culture in the office. They have to hire qualified candidates for the organisation. And build a positive environment in the organisation.



Interconnectedness and collaboration

Work structure:

Finance is used for allocating funds in a reliable place of development. Then, marketing is used for promoting and advertising British Airways service quality. Then, the operation is used for the development of training staff for their particular job roles. Then, human resources is used to allocate individual work and maintain the ethical environment in of projection of the task of British Airways (Joe, 2020).

Importance:

With the help of business functions, British Airways can utilise its sources and techniques in the right and legitimate way because when all the necessary parameters work according to the demand then British Airways management can make relevant and exponential decisions, which can provide the right growth to the organisation (Molly, 2024).

Example:

British Airways is investing its funds in the Speed Bird Pilot Academy to provide an effective and reliable training program to their pilot staff and they are providing another relevant program for other important staff members such as the cabin crew program (Mendonca and Keller, 2022).



Conclusion

The report concluded that British Airways company was effectively using all the business functions in their organisation and they were also working on improvising their errors in business function and management performance. And, British Airways was using business functions equally to maintain long-term business growth cycles.
