What is this assessment task about?

This assessment is a written questionnaire with a mix of objective and subjective questions.


The questionnaire is designed to meet the knowledge required to meet the unit requirements safely and effectively.


The questions focus on the knowledge evidence required for this unit of competency:


  • outline the legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to the organisation’s strategic plan.

  • give examples of risks and risk management strategies relevant to strategic planning including:

  • intellectual property rights and responsibilities

  • other risks

  • outline strategic planning methodologies including political, economic, social and technological (PEST) analysis and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats analysis (SWOT)

  • identify internal and external sources of information relevant to the organisation's market, competitors, customer base, vision, values and capabilities

  • outline techniques for developing organisational values.

Your assessor will be looking for demonstrated evidence of your ability to answer the questions satisfactorily, follow instructions, conduct online research and review real or simulated business documentation, such as policies and procedures related to project management.

Competition and Consumer Act 2010

This ensures that an organisation is fairly trading in dealing with its competitors and consumers in the market (business.gov.au, 2021).

Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999

It safeguards biodiversity and ensures that organisational practices are not having a negative impact on environmental standards (agriculture.gov.au, 2020).

Privacy Act 1988

This promotes and protects the privacy of organisations in Australia and ensures that its key assets are safeguarded from unauthorised access and exposure (oaic.gov.au, 2021).

Employment & Labour Law 2020

This ensures that businesses have appropriate wage systems, work health and safety frameworks, compensation insurances, and other associated allowances for the employees (business.gov.au, 2021).

Patents Act 1990

This involves an administrative framework, which focuses on grant and management of patents for various organisational authorisations (alrc.gov.au, 2021).

Intellectual property risks

The organisation should aim at attaining appropriate patents or trademarks for the deliverable to protect it from the threat of theft.

Data theft and loss

In compliance with Privacy Act 1990, the organisation should be motivated towards ensuring that unwanted authorisations are not provided along with the introduction of protection layers such as firewalls.

Inefficient employee management

The organisation should aim at ensuring that there is proper compliance to Employment & Labour 2020 and further, introduce appropriate strategies such as fair wage and compensation schemes, and flexible working conditions.

This helps an organisation to determine the resources and assets, which provides it with long-term competitive advantages and protect the same.

PROTER’S FIVE FORCE MODEL

This allows an organisation to analyse the competition in the market and further, incorporate appropriate strategies for tackling the same.

Technique

Assessment of current organisational culture

This will support the organisation to determine the gaps in the current culture and this identification will increase the overall scope of improvement. The organisational value will undergo major modifications leading to higher effectiveness.

Incorporating stronger leadership

Setting better leadership can be stated as highly helpful for organisational values as it sets an example for others in the organisation. Through this, the organisation will be able to ensure progress in the right direction and suitable awareness among all for the values.

Fostering an inclusive working environment

Through inclusive working, the cooperation will be higher at the organisation and it will be easier to share a mutual value at work. Further, there will be lesser conflicts and mutual respect for the values.
