Introduction
Career pathway refers to the process that involves creating a plan and development path that helps individuals to visualise how their skills, opportunities, knowledge, and interests align with their career goals (Diard, 2025; Hedge and Rineer, 2017). The aim of this presentation is to evaluate two distinct career paths to select one of them by assessing my own skills and suitability. For this, the two career paths that have been selected are those of a Transport Manager and a Logistics Coordinator. This presentation will involve several sections, such as career research, application documentation, self-reflection, and a personal development plan. The application documentation will provide a CV and a LinkedIn profile for a preferred role among the two specified above, following which, a SWOT analysis will be conducted for a self-audit for the same role, so as to identify development needs. The development plan will use a SMART framework.

My qualifications include pursuing a graduation degree from Regent College London of the University of Greater Manchester. Currently, I am working at Bestof5 Transport Limited as an HGV Driver. I started working in this role in November 2021. As an HGV Driver, I am responsible for planning delivery routes and schedules with transport managers, operating commercial vehicles, including rigid trucks, articulated lorries, tankers, trailer and transporters wagons, driving short or long distances, and keeping logbooks up-to-date. This role also involves responsibilities such as planning delivery routes and schedules with transport managers, completing paperwork regarding delivery, helping or supervising to unload and load goods, carrying and lifting goods, and ensuring safety in loading.
From my academic and professional experience, I gained experience from different skills, such as communication skills, heavy lifting, time management, organisational skills, customer service skills, computer skills like Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office, commercial driving, flatbed and loading and unloading. From the SWOT analysis, I found that my strengths are commercial driving, heavy lifting, and multi-drop driving, customer service, warehouse experience, and Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office. However, communication, organisation, teamwork, and time management are my weaknesses that need improvement. Thus, my skills and competencies resembled those of the Transport Manager role at Gategroup. Hence, I will focus on enhancing my skill set, knowledge, and competencies as per the requirements of the transport manager job role.
4. Personal Development Plan
Here is a personal development plan based on the SMART framework to help with the improvement of the above-identified weaknesses or areas of improvement.

Table 1: SMART development plan
(Source: Created by the learner)
This plan uses the SMART approach in all four skills to ensure that development goals are realistic and achievable. These competencies are interconnected - communication skills will help to make the teamwork more effective; time management and productivity occur due to better organisation (Sumaiya et al., 2022). Frequent self-evaluation and mentor or supervisor feedback will be essential in keeping me accountable (Hoo et al., 2020). The reflection journals and the periodic peer feedback will be measures and an encouragement to improvement. Through this course of action within three to six months, he or she is likely to notice an improvement in professional performance, confidence and leadership abilities, which are essential qualities needed both in the school and professional environment.
Conclusion
To sum up, this career development analysis has helped me to have a clear picture of my career goals, strengths, and weaknesses. Comparing two possible positions, such as the jobs of the Logistics Coordinator and the Transport Manager, I have determined that the latter is the best task that meets my long-term objectives, skills, and interests. Self-assessment based on the SWOT framework allowed me to realise that, though I have such technical and operational strengths as commercial driving and customer service, I need to improve such key soft skills as communication, organisation, teamwork, and time management. The plan of SMART development is a progressive, quantitative way of enhancing these competencies in a specified period. The adoption of this plan will not only assist in the growth of the individual and professional front but also help me to successfully enter the sphere of leadership in the transport and logistics industry. Conclusively, the reflective process has reaffirmed my career orientation and desire to keep learning and improving myself.
